Medication Assistance Program (MAP)

North Carolina citizens that are uninsured or who qualify for Medicare coverage often find that they cannot afford the medication required to treat their chronic health conditions. Also, those who are at risk for adverse reactions as a result of drug interactions because their care is not coordinated.

MAP can help North Carolina’s residents not only gain access to prescription drugs but also to help provide them with counseling on safe use of their medications to prevent adverse drug interactions and other potentially unsafe situations.

Who is eligible?

1. Low income residents of Hoke and surrounding counties
2. Individuals that are 18 years and older
3. Legal residents of Hoke and surrounding counties who have a primary care physician and take medication for chronic conditions, but are not enrolled in any prescription drug coverage program.
4. A person must meet all of the above criteria to be eligible.

Who is not eligible for MAP services?

1. Residents who do not have a regular physician to provide their medical care.
2. Residents who have Medicaid, Medicare Part D and are not in the coverage gap or private insurance coverage for prescription medicine.

What services does MAP offer?

Our pharmacist will meet with you:

1. To review your medication and your medical history
2. To provide information on how to use your drugs properly.
3. To help you lower your drug costs.

How much will it cost?

All of the services provided through MAP are free of charge. MAP staff will work with you to obtain medication at no cost. If this is not possible, you may be able to purchase them for a small fee.
