Hoke County Parks and Recreation provides a variety of athletics and programs for children to participate in, such as summer camp and breakfast with Santa. We also offer various programs for Seniors, such as dance classes and trips (both day and overnight).
In addition, Parks and Recreation provides parks that are available to be rented for your family or business special events.
The mission of Hoke County Parks and Recreation is to provide a fun and safe environment for the community.
To celebrate Black History month, here are some African-American athletes who made an incredible impact in their respective sports. - Debi Thomas became the first African-American athlete to earn a medal in the Winter Olympics when she took the bronze in women’s figure skating in 1988. - Doug Williams was the first African-American quarterback to win a Super Bowl. He won the big game with the Washington Redskins in 1988. - Arthur Ashe was the first black male to win a NCAA tennis Championship, the first to win a Grand Slam Title, and the first to represent the US in the Davis Cup.
