Narcotic /Vice Suppression Press Release

The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office announced on May 23, 2025; the Narcotic/Vice Suppression Unit (NVSU) concluded a long-term narcotic investigation. A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle that was operated by Mr. Rasheen Simmid Peterkin.

 During the traffic stop, a canine unit arrived on the scene and was utilized to conduct a “sniff” of the vehicle. The canine gave a positive alert and a search was conducted. At the conclusion of the search of the vehicle NVSU Detectives located approximately three and a half ounces of cocaine and bulk US currency. Assorted items of paraphernalia were also located. Mr. Peterkin was arrested and transported to the Hoke County Detention Center. 

 At the detention center, Mr. Peterkin was charged with two counts of trafficking cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for sell/delivery of controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Peterkin was given a $75,000.00 unsecured bond due to a pre-existing medical condition.
