Raeford, NC - The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office announces on December 31, 2025, Detectives with the Narcotic Vice Suppression Unit (NVSU) were working traffic interdiction in the 8500 block of Fayetteville Road and conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Isaiah Anthony Tate. While detectives were speaking to Mr. Tate, they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the car. When asked about it, Mr. Tate handed the detectives a freshly rolled marijuana cigar. Members of the NVSU then conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle.
During the search, detectives located a loaded Canik 9mm handgun, a Bersa .380 handgun, a small amount of marijuana, and digital scales. Further investigation revealed that the Bersa .380 had been reported stolen and that Mr. Tate was a convicted felon who was out on bond.
Mr. Tate was arrested and transported to the Hoke County Jail where he was charged with two counts of possession of firearm by convicted felon, possession of stolen firearm, two counts of carry concealed weapon, simple possession of marijuana, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Mr. Tate was given no bond due to being out on pretrial release for unrelated charges.
