On Monday, March 4, 2024, at approximately 22:15 hrs., Hoke County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 300 Block of John Brown Road, Raeford, North Carolina, in reference to a shooting. When Deputies arrived on scene, they located a victim lying on the floor unresponsive. Deputies provided life-saving efforts until Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and took over. While on scene, it was determined that the suspect, Jerome Johnson, had shot the victim and was immediately detained without incident.
During the course of the initial investigation, it was discovered that there was a second victim. Deputy Medics applied bandages to the second victim while EMS performed life-saving efforts on the first victim. Detectives were contacted and arrived on scene. The two victims were transported to a local hospital, where the first victim was pronounced deceased. Jerome Johnson was charged with Felony First Degree Murder and Felony Assault with Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury. The investigation is still on-going.
