The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office announced on January 3, 2025, the Special Operations Unit conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle equipment violation in the area of Northwoods Drive and Fayetteville Road. During the traffic stop, the driver was identified as Mr. J’Terry Damount Byrd. While speaking with Mr. Byrd the odor of marijuana was omitting from the vehicle. Mr. Byrd was asked to step out of the vehicle so that a probable cause search of the vehicle could be conducted. During the search, deputies located a bag containing assorted designer bags of marijuana, a vacuum sealed bag of marijuana, a vacuum sealer, pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes, and other items that were infused with marijuana. Mr. Byrd was arrested and transported to the Hoke County Jail where he was charged with two counts of trafficking marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances and various traffic violations. Mr. Byrd went before the magistrate and received a $50,000.00 secured bond.
