The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office announced on, Monday, February 19th, 2024, that Members of the Violent Crimes Task Force and Special Operations Unit responded to Murphy’s Gas Station for a well-being check of a female who appeared to be asleep in her vehicle, with the vehicle running. After contacting the operator, Ms. Laura Collins was detained, and a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. Deputies on the scene located Crack Cocaine, Marijuana, and a concealed firearm. Ms. Collins is a convicted felon.
Ms. Collins was transported to the Hoke County Detention Center and warrants were obtained for her arrest.
Ms. Collins was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, PWISD Schedule II, Possession of Schedule VI, Maintaining a Vehicle for a Controlled Substance, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
Ms. Collins was held on no bond due to pending charges.
On February 20, 2024, Ms. Collins was taken before a district court judge at the Hoke County Courthouse for a bond hearing. Ms. Collins was given a $30,000 secured bond.
