The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office announced on July 24, 2024, the Narcotics/Vice Suppression Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on Red Springs Road, traveling at a high rate of speed. There were multiple occupants in the vehicle and while conducting the stop narcotics detectives observed, in plain view, an empty pill bottle with white residue. When asked if anything else was in the vehicle the occupants consented to a search.
The passengers in the back seat were identified as Larry McCallum and Lisa Camma Lowery. It was learned that Ms. Lowery had active arrest warrants out of Robeson County. She was placed under arrest and during that process, Ms. Lowery attempted to throw down a glass pipe and suspected cocaine. A search of the vehicle resulted in six (6) individual dosage units of suspected “crack” cocaine being located in the door where Mr. McCallum was sitting. Mr. McCallum was placed under arrest. Both subjects were transported to the Hoke County Jail.
At the jail, Mr. McCallum was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine and resist, delay, obstruct. The obstruction charge stemmed from Mr. McCallum initially giving a fake name and date of birth to law enforcement. Ms. Lowery was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. McCallum was held on a $2,500.00 secured bond. Ms. Lowery was given a $3,500 unsecured bond for the drug charges and held on a $200.00 cash bond for the outstanding arrest warrant.
