The Hoke County Sheriff's Office Detective Division is responsible for criminal investigations throughout Hoke County. Generally responsible for felony investigations, the Detective Division is a separate unit providing specialized and complex investigative techniques to include crime scene investigations. The Detective Division encompasses the following areas:
- Property Crimes include felony larceny, felony breaking and entering, and fraud.
- Crimes against Persons include special victim's unit, kidnapping, sexual assault, homicides, robberies, and felonious assault.
- Gang Investigations.
The Detective Division has investigators assigned to the SERT team that assist in the apprehension of armed career violent offenders. All assigned officers prepare investigative files; and coordinate with the District Attorney's Office for cooperation with the prosecution of cases and testimony before the Grand Jury and in Superior Court.
The Detective Division is directed by a Chief of Detectives, who holds the rank of Captain and answers to the Chief Deputy. The Chief of Detectives is assisted by a group of highly trained Lieutenants and Sergeants responsible for the day-to-day operation of each section within the Detective Division.
