School Resource Officers

Hoke County Sheriff's Office School Resource Officers (SROs) patrol all fourteen campuses in the Hoke County School System; including those located in the municipality of Raeford. SROs are responsible for enforcing state and local laws on school campuses as well as instructing students, parents, faculty, staff, and the public on pertinent laws. SROs provide security during school hours and at school events on campus including assemblies, athletic events, dances, etc. SROs are often mentors to children and young adults, providing a positive influence along with safety and structure.

Hoke County SROs are nationally certified instructions for the Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.) Program, developed for elementary and middle school students with a goal of positive influence and keeping children away from crime, violence, and drug abuse with an emphasis on bullying prevention.

The Hoke County SROs conduct an annual Sheriff Youth Academy for high school students by application. Students are selected and attend one week at Hoke High School learning basic law enforcement techniques from a variety of subject matter expert instructors from the Hoke County Sheriff's Office.
